Bangladesh Parliament’s All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) which was formed in September, 2003, is the legislator’s institution providing legislative and policy support to all the members of Parliament, govt. Officials and related policy planners of the country and abroad. People’s Empowerment Trust (PET), a leading legislative advocacy institution has been acting as the official Secretary of All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPGs) of Bangladesh Parliament (স্মারক নং-বাজাসস/ট্রেনিংসেল/APPG/৪২(১)/২০০৯/৪৬). Since its formation, the APPGs of Bangladesh Parliament has been potentially contributing for strengthening the parliament and its process and function the democratic system of governance. APPGs conduct and facilitate the leadership trainings on Parliamentary Policy and development related issues like: the Constitutions, Rules of Procedure, Law making process, Parliamentary notices, debate & discussions; questions-answers, Women Empowerment, Extreme Poverty, Peace and Security, Governance, Anti-Corruption, Disaster Risk Reduction, Child Rights, Migration, SDGs, Human Rights, Food Safety, Climate Change etc. both in home and abroad. This parliamentary institution also conducts Inter-Parliamentary Conferences/dialogue, policy dialogue, policy research; develop policy briefs on national, regional and global development and policy issues. APPG’s governing authority which is called APPGs Commission headed by its Chairperson the Hon’ble Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament.APPGs Commission was constituted in the 9th Parliament in the year of 2009 (স্মারক নং-বাজাসস/১(৪৩)/APPG/২০০৯/আইপিএ-২/৩৪৬). As per rules and decision, with the direction of the Hon’ble Chairperson of the APPGs Commission, member/s of the commission will act as the Chairperson-designate, if needed. Currently the following all-party parliamentary groups are functioning in the Parliament and the Chairpersons of these groups represents as a member to the APPGs Commission. The position of chair, co-chair and members of each group are being selected based on the representation of each parliamentary party in the Parliament and in line with their expertise to the relevant field. APPGs of Bangladesh Parliament holds its Secretariat in the Parliament Secretariat (2/8, Minister Hostel, Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat, Bangladesh Parliament, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka-1207).
